Creative Photo Shoot Locations - Think Outside the Box

Updated: Aug 1, 2019

One of the things a photographer considers when planning a photo shoot is location. The most common places include parks and gardens, beaches, famous landmarks and so on. Sometimes with a little extra thought and planning, you can find unique locations in the least likeliest of places. Ever consider an alleyway for a photo shoot? During a photo shoot of a graduate and her friends, we spotted an alleyway which was the perfect backdrop for a portrait. The bonus was the mural we found along the way. It provided a nice urban feel for her portrait session.

For a more elegant photo session, consider museums. These buildings often have beautiful architectural details and can add that extra sophistication to a portrait.

If you're looking for something a little more playful, how about an indoor gym. We recently had an engagement shoot where the couple wanted a love and basketball theme. An indoor gym was the perfect choice for their photo shoot.

As you can see with a little forethought and planning, the sky is the limit when it comes to locations for a photo shoot. Just be creative and don't forget to think outside the box. For help in planning your next portrait session, contact us to set up a free consultation.
